AMI Semiconductor CEO to Keynote Workshop for Women in Design Automation During Design Automation Conference

Chris King Will Share Her Career Experiences, Strategies for Success

BOULDER, Colo. - February 25, 2002 - Chris King, chief executive officer (CEO) of AMI Semiconductor and the first woman to lead a semiconductor company, will deliver the keynote at the Workshop for Women in Design Automation (WWINDA) during the 39th Design Automation Conference (DAC). This year's theme, "Silk Purses and Sow's Ears: Turning Obstacles into Opportunity," will give attendees an opportunity to get advice and coaching from successful leaders across the industry.

The yearly workshop is scheduled for Monday, June 10, from 1:15 p.m. - 4 p.m. DAC will be held June 10-14, 2002, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Now in its fifth year, the workshop offers individuals who work in the design automation industry the opportunity to hear successful women speak on topics relevant to their careers.

King will share her experiences rising through the ranks at IBM, launching IBM's ASIC business - making it the number one ASIC business in the world - to becoming the first woman CEO of a semiconductor company. She will address how to overcome stereotypes, positioning for the plum assignment, using risk as an advantage, and fighting the feeling of isolation, as well as how to find a mentor or coach. She will outline her top five strategies for success in the challenging world of technology.

The program will conclude with a panel titled, "Coaching and Feedback: Do I need it and where do I get it?" Panelists will include successful industry veterans who will share their experiences in overcoming obstacles in the workplace, how they've used feedback and coaching to their advantage and where they've found it.

"The workshop gives everyone working in design automation a forum to exchange ideas and information, and more important, to network with their peers," says Jan Willis, workshop chair and vice president of business development at Simplex Solutions. "Attendees have consistently told us they value the networking opportunities and the topics that are explored."

Registration is $40 for members of ACM or IEEE and $60 for non-members. For more information regarding registration, contact Julie Tangeman at (303) 530-4333 or via email at julie@dac.com. Or, visit the DAC Web site at www.dac.com.
